I had a great day yesterday!!!!!! Up to now, we haven’t really had any Mother’s Day traditions, but we certainly started some yesterday. So I’m a little slow on the uptake…….I LOVED yesterday, therefore, new traditions!!!
I got to “sleep in”….Darcy, you may want to look away….this is considered “sleeping in at my house!…….until 7:15 (no, not PM!). Then we all rolled out of bed and started gathering the troops. We headed out the door at 9:15 to go out to Coronado for brunch with the two families we spend most of our social time with. For those of you who haven’t had the joy of being in San Diego in May or June, it is not what you think it should be. They actually have names for the months of May and June…..May Gray and June Gloom. That means what you think it does….we’re socked in with fog and high clouds and gloomy days for two months. Going out to Coronado, you’d think we’d be loving the sunshine and warm air….NOT in May!! It wasn’t cold, but it wasn’t warm, and no sun. But I digress……The kids were VERY excited to cross over the big bridge, and Coronado is beautiful. Brunch was amazing, and the kids were very well behaved. The moms were all given roses, and treated like queens. LOVED IT!
After brunch, we headed to the beach. It had warmed up a little bit, but still no sunshine. The babies had a great time playing in the sand and the water, and were COVERED in sand…Ryley actually looked like he had on sand knee-highs at one point. After a couple hours of reading, conversation, and laughing at the kids having a great time, it was time to head home. My truck is now full of sand, but it was worth it. I got lots of pictures, and yes, started the new tradition of having my picture taken WITH the kiddos. Everyone (except Michael – he was driving, heeheehee) fell asleep on the way home.
Michael had taken the boys on Saturday to the mall to get a gift for me. I finally got the jewelry armoire I’ve been asking for for two years now……Now, I just need to get the jewelry to fill it up! LOL! Just kidding!! And this was the first year that Ryley was able to write his own name in the card…I’ll really treasure that one!!
Hope you all had a BEAUTIFUl Mother’s Day. And I share a sentiment Jennifer toasted with yesterday……Here’s to good friends, who help make me a better mother!!!
